Not everyone thinks I'm as funny as I think I am!  :-)  I did this painting as part of my 30 day challenge and wasn't happy with the results - I had used masking fluid and didn't like how the dumb squiggly lines looked trying to be soft foamy water.  Imagine!  So, I tried it again - this time lifting vs masking and am much happier with the results.  The John Kerr Dam is in the background here on Buggs Island Lake - Clarksville, VA!  Our neighbors took us out for a boat ride when we moved here - the lake keeps popping up along the roadsides, but we couldn't imagine how big it is until we finally got to see it from a boat!  It was wonderful!!

Andrea,

Brushes for fabric painting are great for lifting. The watercolor scrubbers I've ordered from the catalogs are really rough on the paper, but little Loew-Cornell brushes intended for stenciling and the like are softer and come in sets of four with useful shapes and sizes for softening the edges of masked areas and more. I get them at the big-box craft stores (they do wear out quickly). Another useful tip from Jane Angelhart...

You'll never know how much I appreciate all your comments, Kristen! You are such a wealth of knowledge and share so openly. I can see you as a wonderful teacher if that is something on your bucket list!! Thank you for the tip on the stenciling brushes and templates! I'll definitely pick some up next time at Hobby Lobby or Michaels! You're right - so easy to scratch and tear the layers of the watercolor paper - to the point of sometimes ruining a painting!

Thanks again,
Andrea
